Liverpool About To Bag ‘Talent’ Better Than Semenyo In January

Liverpool could turn their attention to a bigger attacking name than Antoine Semenyo if they miss out on the Bournemouth forward, with Real Madrid star Rodrygo reportedly on their radar.

Semenyo has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season, attracting strong interest ahead of the January transfer window.

Manchester City are believed to be leading the race for the Bournemouth winger, although Liverpool have maintained a long-standing interest in the Ghana international.

The Reds are keen to add a direct wide attacker following Luis Díaz’s summer departure to Bayern Munich.

While Cody Gakpo has contributed goals, Liverpool’s left flank has often looked predictable, prompting Arne Slot to explore elite alternatives.

One such option is Rodrygo, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to Anfield.

Reports earlier this month suggested the Brazilian, valued at around £70 million, would be open to a switch to Merseyside amid uncertainty over his long-term role at Real Madrid.

Rodrygo has endured a difficult spell over the past year, falling down the pecking order under Carlo Ancelotti and struggling to fully re-establish himself since Xabi Alonso’s arrival.

Despite that, his pedigree remains unquestionable, reports Footballfancast.

The 24-year-old is a two-time Champions League winner and has registered over 120 goal contributions for Los Blancos across all competitions.

His versatility, technical quality and big-game experience arguably place him above Semenyo in terms of proven elite output.

Former teammate Luka Modrić has previously described Rodrygo as a “world-class” talent, and Liverpool may view him as a statement signing capable of elevating their attack if the Semenyo deal proves too difficult to complete.
