Inter Miami advanced to the Leagues Cup final after defeating Orlando City 3-1 thanks to a brace from the returning Lionel Messi.
The Argentine’s late flurry sparked the Herons’ comeback victory in only Messi’s second appearance in two weeks due to a hamstring injury.
After a tense first half, Orlando’s Marco Pasalic opened the scoring just before halftime.
The scoreline remained unchanged for much of the second quarter until David Brekalo’s red card in the 75th minute created an opportunity for Miami which was reported on the club website.
Messi took full advantage, tied the score with a penalty just two minutes later.

The 38-year-old scored his second goal in the 88th minute, scoring off an assist from Jordi Alba to give Miami the lead.
Telasco Segovia then connected with Luis Suarez to finish in the opening minute of stoppage time.
Miami, who won the event in 2022, will meet either the Los Angeles Galaxy or the Seattle Sounders in the final on Sunday.
