Juventus Wants To Re-sign Former Player Who Flopped At England

Juventus have made formal contact with Liverpool over a potential January move for Federico Chiesa, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Serie A giants are actively searching for an additional winger this winter and have identified the Italian international as a priority target.

Chiesa only joined Liverpool in August 2024 for a reported £10 million fee but has struggled to establish himself at Anfield.

Despite arriving with high expectations, the 28-year-old has been reduced to a peripheral role under Arne Slot.

He has made just two Premier League starts this season, with Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike all preferred in attacking positions.

Liverpool’s lack of consistent league form has also raised questions about squad balance, with the Reds currently sitting 14 points behind leaders Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

Chiesa’s limited minutes have inevitably fuelled speculation about his future.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed Juventus’ approach on social media, stating that talks are still at an early stage and that no final decision has been made.

Juventus pushing for winger as Chiesa future unclear

Romano revealed that Juventus have made “formal contact” to explore a possible return for Chiesa in January.

However, it remains unclear whether the Old Lady are pursuing a loan deal or a permanent transfer.

Chiesa previously enjoyed some of the best moments of his career in Turin and remains highly regarded by the Juventus hierarchy.

His appreciation within the club has played a key role in their renewed interest, reports Liverpool World.

Any deal will ultimately depend on Liverpool’s stance and the player’s willingness to leave midway through the season.

With competition fierce at Anfield and opportunities limited, a January exit could appeal to Chiesa as he looks to revive his career.

For now, negotiations are ongoing, and the situation is one to watch closely as the transfer window unfolds.
