Jurgen Klopp Posts Emotional Message After Liverpool Parade Car Crash

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has described his emotional reaction to the event that injured 47 people during the Reds’ open-top bus parade to celebrate their Premier League title. Merseyside Police said that a 53-year-old white British man was arrested on Monday following the horrifying events, and that no one else was under investigation.

The outpouring of concern for the victims has been extensive, with messages from Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Liverpool’s Mayor, and even NBA star LeBron James. Now, Klopp, who guided Liverpool to victory during the pandemic-hit 2019/20 season, has spoken out for the first time about what happened on Water Street.

Klopp Gives Statement on Social Media

Klopp, who was at Anfield to watch Virgil van Dijk receive the trophy on Sunday and at the parade, issued a brief comment on social media, expressing his sorrow and giving his prayers to the victims.

“My family and I are shocked and devastated. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are injured or affected.

“You’ll never walk alone.”

Klopp is not the only Liverpool icon who has commented to the event, as former defender and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher posted on X: “Devastating end to the day………just pray everyone is ok.”

Steven Gerrard, arguably Liverpool’s greatest ever player, responded by tweeting a heart emoji on social media.

Kenny Dalglish also issued a lengthy statement, writing: “I’m shocked, horrified, and extremely saddened by what transpired at the end of the parade today. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone and their families who have been affected by today’s awful occurrence.
