Liverpool are once again connected with a bid for Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who is expected to join a new club this summer.
De Bruyne confirmed in April that he will leave City at the end of the season, when his contract ends. The Belgian international is set to become a free agent and has been linked with transfers to Saudi Arabia and the United States in recent weeks.
According to reports from Italy on Wednesday, Liverpool has made a “offer” to De Bruyne to join the Reds on a free transfer this summer. Napoli, the Serie A leaders, are also reportedly interested in signing De Bruyne as a free agent.
It remains to be seen what intentions Liverpool have for the summer transfer window and which players Arne Slot would want to add to the squad to defend the Premier League title.
Jurgen Klopp’s opinion on De Bruyne during the Reds’ previous title chase came only last year.
Klopp, who left Liverpool last summer, made an admission regarding De Bruyne as the midfielder returned from injury.

The former Reds manager was speaking after the club climbed to the top of the Premier League table with a Monday Night Football victory over Newcastle United.
It is all positive. “There’s no doubt about it,” Klopp told Sky Sports on January 1 of last year. “But last week, it feels like a few hours ago, Arsenal were racing away with it [the title race]. If you talk about it today, you will say, ‘That’s all for them.
