Julio Enciso To Join Chelsea Next Summer

On Wednesday, it was announced that once-promising attacking midfielder Julio Enciso will “join the BlueCo project” and spend a year at RC Strasbourg before going to Chelsea next summer.

We’re now cooking with multi-club heat!

It’s unclear what this implies in traditional terms, but we’re all out of loan spaces at RCSA, thus Enciso would have to transfer to our sister club this summer from Brighton (shock), before moving between BlueCo entities the following summer. Reported On X.

The figures involved are apparently just around £12 million (€16 million) — obviously, Strasbourg cannot afford large payments even with multi-club wizardry — but I’m sure if everything goes as planned, the fee for the move to Chelsea next summer will be substantially greater.

Enciso joined Brighton from his native Paraguay for about £10 million in 2022, and he had a very strong debut season as a teenager with the Seagulls, making 26 appearances and scoring four goals, one of which was named Premier League Goal of the Season in 2022-23. One of the other three was victorious versus Chelsea at the Bridge. (He also made his Premier League debut against us in the reverse fixture, so it’s basically a done deal.)

Unfortunately, Enciso sustained a significant knee injury (torn meniscus) a few weeks into the following season, and things have never been the same since.

However, his season came to an end with yet another operation on the same knee, this time to try to clear away scar tissue and alleviate the reoccurring pain. He is now recovering from that and is not anticipated to return to action for a few more months.
