Jamie Carragher Discusses Manchester United’s Interest In Liam Delap

The 22-year-old is poised to leave Portman Road in the coming weeks, having scored 12 goals and provided two assists in the Premier League this season With  £30 million relegation release clause, he definitely attracts a lot of interest both Manchester united.

The Red Devils appear to be leading the race ahead of Chelsea and Newcastle United, with the Blues permitting Delap to meet with their executives in Manchester, according to The Athletic.

However, Carragher believes that the former Manchester City player should avoid a move to Old Trafford and instead choose a mid-table club to continue his growth in the Premier League.

“I don’t think Delap should go to Manchester United,” he told Sky Sports.

“What happened to [Rasmus] Hojlund, sometimes when you’re going from a relegated team – I know Man United is 16th, but they’re one of the world’s biggest teams, with all eyes and ears on them.”

“I think that’s a huge step. I understand that it may not be in terms of league position, but Manchester United is a monster.

“I think he’s an improvement over Hojlund, but I almost think the next step should be Everton or something.

“You know you’re going to play every week, you’re going to be the focal point, and you’re going to feel like one of the top players on the squad.

“He’s the best player on the team at Ipswich; everything goes through him, so go to another club and be that for two years, then go to Manchester United or anywhere. A team participating in the Champions League or attempting to compete at that level.”
