Jamie Carragher has disagreed with Arne Slot, who stated that he will continue to select Trent Alexander-Arnold despite being booed by his own fans against Arsenal. The boyhood Reds star stated that he would be leaving Anfield this summer and is expected to join Real Madrid, a move that has not gone well with fans.
The 26-year-old came on for Conor Bradley in the closing 23 minutes of Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with the Gunners, but he was jeered by a part of the home crowd, with some singing: “There’s only one Conor Bradley”.
Despite the increasing enmity, Alexander-Arnold’s management, Slot, insisted that he stay available for selection.
After the game, the Dutchman stated, “The thing I consider is I want to win a game of football, and if we think we can win with Trent, I owe it to his teammates and to the fans, because they (Liverpool) hired me to win as many games of football as possible.”
“And if I think Trent has a better chance of winning, I’ll pick him. If I believe it is a distraction or something else that will prevent us from playing a decent game of football, I may reconsider my decision.
“That could’ve been his last performance, which might be the right thing as Liverpool don’t need a circus,” he said to Sky Sports.
Carragher stated that the player should not be sent off, but denounced the fans’ boos because he was still representing the team.

“That was a step too far,” the former defender admitted. “Sing other players’ names; do not boo a player wearing the shirt. If you are frustrated with Trent, sing Conor Bradley or Steven Gerrard’s name.
