Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate has rejected a huge £185,000-a-week contract offer, leaving the door wide open for a Real Madrid move.
The French defender is out of contract next summer, with Madrid boss Xabi Alonso keen to sign him as part of defensive reinforcements.
Reports from Spain suggest Konate has already held discussions with Real, with speculation about a preliminary agreement for a future transfer.
Madrid’s need for centre-backs is clear, with David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger both nearing the end of their current deals in 2026, reports Team Talk.
According to Defensa Central, Liverpool offered Konate a lucrative five-year deal worth £9.6m annually, but the 26-year-old turned it down.
Liverpool’s £15,000 Gamble
Konate reportedly wants £200,000 per week, meaning Liverpool’s proposal fell £15,000 short of the figure required to secure his long-term future.
TEAMtalk insiders suggest this could be a risky negotiating tactic, but Madrid remain confident they can lure him to the Bernabeu.

Since joining Liverpool in 2021, Konate has made 139 appearances, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and two EFL Cups with the club.
His current £70,000-per-week wages highlight the huge jump Liverpool were willing to offer, but still not enough to satisfy his demands.
Should Liverpool refuse to meet his request, they risk losing a crucial defender for free, with Madrid ready to take full advantage.
