“He’s A Gentleman” – Hansi Flick Credited For Gesture During Barcelona La Liga Title Celebrations

Barcelona won their 28th La Liga title with a 2-0 victory over Espanyol in the Catalan derby on Thursday, the second time in three seasons they have done it at their city rivals’ home ground. Understandably, this produced a stressful scenario for Los Pericos, who did not want to witness any festivities.

There were a handful, but the Barcelona players and staff immediately returned to the dressing room before the party began. One of the causes for this was Hansi Flick, who was seen leading his team off the field at the RCDE Stadium.

Manolo Gonzalez praises Hansi Flick for the celebration motion.

According to Diario AS, Espanyol manager Manolo Gonzalez thanked Flick for this gesture during his post-match press conference.

“He has demonstrated all year to be an excellent coach with common sense. He is a gentleman. It makes no sense to celebrate the league at the perennial rival’s home when you can do so calmly and without causing any trouble.”

Gonzalez also commented on the event, stating that Espanyol was unfortunate to lose to their local rivals.

“I believe the outcome was not fair. We knew what game we were going to meet. We had pretty clear circumstances, and we attacked quite effectively. “If we had taken the lead in the first half, the game would have changed dramatically.”

One of the game’s main talking points was Leandro Cabrera’s late red card for yelling at Lamine Yamal. Gonzalez shared his thoughts on the situation, as well as what he told the Barcelona superstar after the incident.

“We are wrecking football. He lacks the strength to injure or hurt others. It would be logical to expect a match. To fall to the earth like this, you must do it properly. We already know that theatre is well managed there, not just today, but for many years. It is an avoidable activity, but neither falling to the ground, nor being expelled or aggressive.
