Grealish Advised To Leave Man City Following FA Cup Final Snub

Alan Shearer has reportedly told Jack Grealish to leave Manchester City after Pep Guardiola left him out of the FA Cup final.

Grealish, 29, became the most expensive English footballer ever when he moved from Aston Villa to City in 2021 for £100 million.

Though Grealish did excel in City’s treble-winning 2022–2023 season, the winger has found it difficult to match his form at Villa and has mostly performed poorly at the Etihad.

With just seven Premier League starts this season and just one in 2025, 39-cap England international Grealish has fallen lower down the order.

He has mostly played in cup tournaments, where Guardiola has switched up his lineup. Grealish did not come off the bench in City’s FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace, even though his team needed a goal.

According to the Daily Mail, in a recent episode of the Rest is Football Podcast, Shearer expressed his opinion that Saturday’s standout event was the last straw for Grealish’s future at City.

“Did it surprise me yesterday (that City lost)?,’ Shearer said.

“No, because that’s what they’ve been like all season. They didn’t deserve to win it, they didn’t do enough to win it.

“You mentioned Jack Grealish. His time is up at Man City, he has to leave.

“For him (Guardiola) to bring a debutant on, a young boy (Claudio Echeverri) and Gundogan on when they’re desperate for a goal rather than Jack Grealish… his time is up, he’s done at Man City, he has to leave.

“For whatever reason, Pep’s done with him, he doesn’t like him, his time is up it really is.”
