Manchester City star Rodri has been ruled out of Spain’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers after suffering a hamstring injury on Sunday.
The influential midfielder limped off during City’s narrow 1-0 Premier League victory over Brentford, leaving fans and manager Pep Guardiola concerned.
Medical tests conducted by Manchester City confirmed the problem, prompting Spain’s football federation to withdraw him from the squad immediately.
Spain will now face Georgia and Bulgaria without Rodri, adding to the team’s growing injury concerns ahead of the international break, reports Sports NDTV.
Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal has already been sidelined with a groin issue, leaving coach Luis de la Fuente short on key players.
Rodri, who won the Ballon d’Or last year, reassured supporters the problem was minor and not as serious as feared.
Spain Suffer Midfield Setback
Speaking after the match, Rodri said he “felt something small” in his hamstring but remains optimistic about a quick recovery.
He described the sensation as similar to what he experienced in the Euro 2024 final, though less severe this time around.

The midfielder will now use the international break to rest, recover, and regain full fitness before Manchester City’s next fixtures.
Rodri’s absence is a major blow to Spain’s midfield stability, but both player and club remain confident of a swift comeback.
