Former Arsenal Player Heads To Brazil

After spending last season on loan with Arsenal, Neto has left AFC Bournemouth to return to Brazil.

He is the third goalkeeper to depart from Dean Court in recent months. Ironically, shotstopper Kepa Arrizabalaga saw his loan stay expire and briefly return to Chelsea before being signed for £5 million by Arsenal to replace Neto.

Mark Travers has also departed the south coast in a £4 million deal to challenge Jordan Pickford for the number one job at Everton.

Neto, 36, is currently leaving to join Brazilian club Botafogo.

Neto joined Dean Court three years ago on a free transfer from Barcelona.

Neto made 63 appearances with the Cherries and kept 13 clean sheets. However, he had not played for the club since August 2024, following a year with Arsenal, where he made one appearance in the UEFA Champions League.

Neto posted a goodbye message to Dean Court fans on his social media page.

Thank you, @afcb.

Three years of incredible experiences and people that ‘ll bring in my heart for the rest of my life.

Thank the fans and everyone at the club who have always been by my side throughout this period.

Thank you CHERRIES 🍒🍒

AFC Bournemouth signed Đorđe Petrović from Chelsea for a reported sum of £25 million. He will become the club’s new number one.

Have your say…

So farewell, Neto. Thanks for the first season. And, considering your reported earnings and the exorbitant cost of living here, I suppose you were Scandinavian for value after all.

I must add that the transfer team did an excellent job in signing both him and Rothwell on permanent contracts this summer. Some players are still looking for permanent housing, but there has been some progress.
