Football Legend Lambasts Man United For Signing Sesko Instead Of Watkins

Manchester United’s summer striker signing has drawn sharp criticism, with some questioning the club’s decision-making.

The Red Devils secured Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in a deal worth up to £73 million, but doubts remain over whether he is ready for the Premier League.

Former United midfielder Nicky Butt has publicly voiced concerns, suggesting the club should have opted for a more experienced forward.

Butt compared Sesko’s arrival to Rasmus Højlund’s struggles after joining last summer.

“I really hope they aren’t making the same mistakes with Sesko as they did with Hojlund,” Butt said.

Butt Pushes For Watkins Instead

Butt argued that Ollie Watkins would have been the smarter choice, citing the Aston Villa forward’s proven Premier League record.

“Honestly, for what it would have cost, I would have gone and brought in someone like Ollie Watkins,” Butt added.

The England international scored 16 goals and provided 8 assists last season, making him one of the most reliable strikers in the division.

Sesko, meanwhile, is seen as a long-term project, with 39 goals in 87 games for RB Leipzig, including 21 last season.

At just 22, the Slovenian offers pace, aerial threat, and untapped potential, but lacks the top-flight experience Butt believes United desperately need.

With Ruben Amorim’s fluid attacking system now in place, United are banking on Sesko’s upside.

But whether that gamble pays off remains to be seen, reports Caught Offside.
