German champion Bayern and Premier League winner Liverpool are among the many elite teams interested in the offensive midfield player going into this summer’s transfer window.

The Bundesliga has been dominated by Bayern for several decades because of the team’s practice of acquiring the best German players.

Last month, Robert Andrich, a teammate of Wirtz’s, told Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger that the Leverkusen players had been advising Wirtz to ignore Bayern Munich.

Wirtz is the newest hot prospect that Bayern wants to acquire, reports Liverpool.

“Yes, of course there are a few comments along those lines,” Andrich said when asked if he had told Wirtz to go abroad instead of Bayern.

“I hope he doesn’t leave, especially not to Bayern, because that would make them significantly stronger.”

“But fundamentally, Flo is already very clear in his perception and his mind, and he also has a very good environment.

So no matter what he ends up doing, he’ll have thought it through thoroughly. It would be best, of course, if he stayed with us.”

Wirtz is reportedly being targeted by Liverpool and Bayern after Manchester City reportedly withdrew from the race to sign him.
