FIFA has announced a new cut-price ticket category for the 2026 World Cup following widespread criticism over rising ticket prices.
World Cup organisers confirmed the introduction of a “Supporter Entry Tier” priced at $60 for matches across the tournament.
The decision follows strong backlash from supporters, who argued prices were excluding traditional fans from attending football’s biggest event.

The 2026 World Cup will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, featuring a record 104 matches.
FIFA said the new ticket tier is aimed at supporting travelling fans following their national teams throughout the competition.
Supporter Groups Say FIFA Changes Do Not Go Far Enough
According to FIFA, the $60 tickets will be reserved exclusively for fans of qualified national teams.
These discounted tickets will make up 10 percent of each national federation’s official ticket allocation for the tournament.
Fan group Football Supporters Europe welcomed the move but insisted the revision fails to address the wider affordability problem.
FSE previously described World Cup 2026 ticket pricing as “extortionate” and far higher than the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
The group claimed supporters could spend at least $6,900 following their team from the opening match to the final, reports Sports NDTV.
FSE criticised FIFA for reacting only after public pressure, calling the move an “appeasement tactic” rather than genuine reform.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also urged FIFA to go further, stressing affordable tickets protect football’s connection to supporters.
FIFA added that fans refunded after team eliminations will not be charged administrative fees during the knockout stages.
