Real Madrid’s star forward Kylian Mbappé is currently a major question mark ahead of the team’s opening FIFA Club World Cup match against Al‑Hilal in Miami on Wednesday.
Mbappé missed Tuesday’s training session after waking up with a high temperature, raising “more than reasonable doubt” about his match readiness, according to club officials.
His absence is a major concern for newly appointed manager Xabi Alonso, as Mbappé is Real’s sole acknowledged centre forward. Reported Ariananews.
Endrick, a young Brazilian talent, was previously ruled out with a leg injury, further reducing Alonso’s attacking options.
Mbappé has been essential since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain, scored 31 La Liga goals this season. With Real Madrid coming off their fifth Champions League title in the previous decade, Mbappé’s presence (or absence) might prove decisive.
Alonso added that the coaching staff will make a final fitness judgment on Wednesday.
The match begins at 11:30 p.m. Kabul time and will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Colidio opened the scoring in the 12th minute, Driussi added another early in the second half (but then got injured), Yusuke Matsuo pulled one back for Urawa via penalty, and Meza sealed it in the 73rd minute.
