Fernandes Makes ‘Worries Me’ Admission After Man United Loss To Brighton

After Manchester United’s 3-1 loss to Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday, Bruno Fernandes acknowledged that his teammates are now suffering from a “lack of confidence.”

Goals from Georginio Rutter, Kaoru Mitoma, and Yankuba Minteh gave the Seagulls their third straight victory at Old Trafford as United fell to their fourth loss in their previous six Premier League games.

After Joshua Zirkzee was brought down inside the box, Fernandes netted a penalty to level the score for United little under 20 minutes later. Minteh had given Brighton the lead in the fifth minute when he met Mitoma’s square ball.

“I think in the second half we showed the opposite,” Fernandes told MUTV as reported by Manchester Evening News.

“We could have stayed in the game, even when we conceded to go to 2-1, but then I think it was a little bit of a lack of belief in that moment that we could change the game and get back into the game.

“Then you concede to go to 3-1 and everything from then on was much more difficult, but we still had time to come back into the game and do something different.

“For me, what worries me the most is the lack of confidence that we have at the moment to do the things that we are able to do. I don’t mind anyone losing the ball for trying something to help the team.
