Eberechi Eze reportedly declared playing for Arsenal had always been his ultimate ambition after turning down a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in favour of a £67.5 million move to the Emirates Stadium.
In the minutes leading up to Arsenal’s 5-0 thumping of Leeds United, which took the Gunners to an early Premier League summit, the former Crystal Palace midfielder was introduced to the Emirates spectators.
After reaching a deal with Crystal Palace on Wednesday, Tottenham were expected to sign Eze, but Mikel Arteta’s team intervened to disrupt the deal.
Given that Tottenham moved first earlier this month and the former Arsenal trainee had entered the final two years of his contract at Selhurst Park, a transfer this summer was always a possibility.

What Did Eze Say As He Completes His Move To Arsenal?
According to The Mirror, Eze, who made four appearances at the Emirates during his time with Palace, acknowledged that wearing the Gunners jersey has always been his ambition.
“I thought about coming back from the moment I understood other clubs and what it meant to become a pro,” he revealed to Ian Wright. “I’ve always thought: ‘Arsenal is where it’s at, that’s what I want to achieve, what I want to get to.’
“I’ve been on trial for four years, if I’m being honest. Every time I came to Arsenal, I looked at the seat that I used to sit on when I used to come to games with my brothers, and I’ve said every single time: ‘this is it – it’s time, this is an opportunity.’ I’m not going to say I knew it was going to happen, but that’s the feeling.
Eze is in line to make his Arsenal debut as the Gunners travel to Anfield to play the reigning Premier League champions, Liverpool on Sunday.
