Ex Man United Striker Names Mbeumo Premier League’s ‘Signing of the Season’

Manchester United have been praised for completing what Louis Saha describes as the “best signing of the season” following Bryan Mbeumo’s superb start to life at Old Trafford.

United spent over £200m last summer, bringing in Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, Senne Lammens and Mbeumo as part of Ruben Amorim’s rebuild.

But while all four recruits have shown promise, it is the £65m arrival from Brentford who has stood out most, according to former United striker Saha.

Mbeumo has hit six goals in 13 appearances for the Red Devils, instantly becoming one of Amorim’s most influential players.

Speaking to Pundit Arena, Saha said Mbeumo edges Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike and Newcastle forward Nick Woltemade as the Premier League’s signing of the season so far.

Why Saha believes Mbeumo is No. 1

Saha argued that Mbeumo’s impact is even more impressive given United’s transitional period and inconsistent early-season form.

He highlighted the forward’s work rate, efficiency and leadership, insisting the Cameroonian has “raised standards” at Old Trafford and settled faster than any of United’s other new arrivals.

Ekitike has also scored six goals for Liverpool and Woltemade has seven for Newcastle, but Saha believes neither has had the same pressure or responsibility that Mbeumo has handled.

The former United attacker praised Matheus Cunha’s energy and Sesko’s potential but admitted both are still adjusting to Amorim’s system, reports Metro.

Despite Mbeumo’s strong form, United slipped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to ten-man Everton on Monday, leaving them 10th and still fighting to close the gap to the top four.

United face Crystal Palace next as they continue their push to return to the Champions League.
