€2 Million Shortfall Leaves 19-Year-Old Barcelona Gem’s Transfer In The Balance

FC Barcelona is now dealing with an abundance of first-team players.

With the first-team group so skilled and Hansi Flick having 2-3 choices to choose from in each position, it is getting increasingly tough for reserve team players to break in.

Jan Virgili seemed to be disappointed that he will not be participating in the pre-season Asian tour. The teenage left-winger was touted as the next great thing, but Pedro Fernandez was selected ahead of him, and he has now reportedly begged to go.

According to SPORT, Barcelona and Mallorca are negotiating for Jan Virgili. The Catalan club wants €4 million for 50% of the player’s rights.

The most they are willing to pay is €2 million for 50% of the player’s rights. While all three parties appear to have similar interests, there is nevertheless a valuation disparity.

Virgili has received numerous offers this summer, including a large financial one from Saudi Arabia, but he desires to continue his career with Jagoba Arrasate.

Mallorca and Barcelona have a solid relationship, having completed a deal for Pablo Torre earlier this summer. Thus, one can anticipate the two groups to reach some type of middle ground.

Virgili’s narrative serves as a reminder that not every talented reserve player will make it to the senior team.

However, the youth can still have a successful career somewhere, and we’ll see if he gets the Mallorca move this summer.
