Barcelona sporting director Deco reportedly stepped as head coach Hansi Flick wanted to reprimand Lamine Yamal after an incident.
Yamal, 18, is undoubtedly one of the first names on Flick’s squad sheet before Barcelona games despite his age. The teenage star is one of the most promising players in the world of football.
Since making his debut in 2023, the 18-year-old has already contributed to the Catalan team winning two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and a Spanish Super Cup. He also played a key part in Spain’s victory at Euro 2024.
The Athletic claims that Yamal makes slightly under €40 million (£33.5 million) annually before taxes. However, that amount depends on whether he achieves all of his performance-related bonuses.

Flick Punishes Players For Coming Late To Meetings Or Trainings
Marcus Rashford and Raphinha were among the players who were reportedly late to Barca training in recent weeks. As a result, they were left out of the starting lineup for the next game.
According to the Spanish publication AS, Flick disciplines his players for being late for team or individual meetings, training, or match days.
However, according to Cadena SER as reported by Sport Bible, Deco intervened to spare Yamal from punishment after he was late to a squad meeting prior to the Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.
According to reports, Deco vetoed Flick’s intention to exclude Yamal and forced him to change his mind.
Ironically, while playing the entire game, Yamal suffered a groin injury which made him miss the October international break.
