The Ballon d’Or is an award given to the player who was judged to have been the best in the world during the previous season This year’s gong will be presented at a ceremony in Paris on September 22.

Barcelona wonderkid, Yamal is one of the favourites to win this year’s award. Last season, the attacker scored 18 goals and added 25 assists as Hansi Flick’s team won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Supercopa.

Who Are The Players Alongside Yamal De La Fuente Said Are Ballon d’Or Favourites?

Furthermore, De la Fuente maintained that Yamal and his Spain teammate Fabian Ruiz, who was instrumental in Paris Saint-Germain’s historic Champions League victory last season, deserve to be considered for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

“I would give it to a Spaniard; I’m happy if it went to Fabian or Lamine Yamal,” De la Fuente told El Larguero as quoted by TNT Sports. “But what about Mikel Merino, Fabian, Dani Olmo, or Pedri?”
On Yamal, the Spain boss said: “One thing is what he conveys externally and another is how he is internally.
“He’s a kid, who works in the gym, with the physio, with the nutritionist, while also taking psychological care.
“He started with us at 16 and has shown impressive maturity. He handles the pressure naturally and with a control that is admirable.
“When I speak to him in private, of course he’s just a kid, but I’m scared by the reflections he makes. I’m glad he’s like this.
“We talk, I like being very close to him and that the player is calm and knows there’s open communication.
“Lamine Yamal has the potential to be the best in the world, but what do you say about Mikel Merino, Fabian, Dani Olmo or Pedri? They are the best players in their positions.”
