Newcastle defender Dan Burn has given his honest thoughts on Alexander Isak’s record-breaking £130m transfer to Liverpool.
The Swedish striker left St James’ Park after scoring 62 goals in 109 games, including the Carabao Cup final winner.
Burn, who also scored in that Wembley clash, admitted Newcastle have struggled early this season without a leading striker.
Despite helping secure two clean sheets in three matches, Newcastle have managed just two points heading into the break.
Speaking before England duty, Burn admitted the Isak saga was tough but insisted there was “no animosity” between them.
He explained that footballers have short careers and must pursue opportunities, even if it means leaving teammates behind.
Burn described Isak as a friend and wished him well, despite frustration among Newcastle supporters over the exit, reports The Shields Gazette.
