Cristiano Ronaldo Set To Trigger £31m Man Utd Windfall As Al-Nassr Target Greenwood

Cristiano Ronaldo could help Manchester United pocket a £31 million boost this summer by facilitating a move for Mason Greenwood.

United sold Greenwood to Marseille last summer for an initial £26.6 million following a strong loan spell at Getafe in La Liga.

The 23-year-old has impressed in France, registering 18 goals and four assists in 31 league appearances during his debut Ligue 1 season.

Despite success on the pitch, he was benched twice in March by coach Roberto de Zerbi, who urged him to show more commitment.

De Zerbi stated Greenwood needed to be “more consistent, sacrifice more, and be more determined” if he wanted to become a champion.

Greenwood had been suspended by United in 2022 amid serious allegations, though all charges were dropped in early 2023 by authorities.

United included a 50% sell-on clause in his Marseille contract, meaning they stand to gain half of any future transfer fee.

Ronaldo Backs Greenwood Move to Saudi Arabia

According to Marca, Ronaldo has personally endorsed Greenwood’s signing as Al-Nassr prepare a formal offer, reportedly worth up to £62 million.

Ronaldo’s influence at Al-Nassr includes a say in recruitment, and he wants to reunite with his former Manchester United teammate.

Now, all eyes are on Greenwood, who is aware of the Saudi club’s interest and must decide whether to accept the offer, reports Football 365.

If a deal materializes, Manchester United could collect around £31 million from the transfer, a major financial boost this window.
