Cristiano Ronaldo Drops Fresh Retirement Hint During International Break

Cristiano Ronaldo believes he still has a few years left in him, revealing what his family has been telling him about his illustrious career.

At the age of 40, Ronaldo is still doing well for both club and country.

He scored an impressive 35 goals for Al Nassr last season and led Portugal to Nations League glory this summer.

The superstar forward is still hungry to score goals and succeed as he hopes to lead his national side to the World Cup next summer.

Ahead of Portugal’s World Cup qualifier against Ireland, Ronaldo was asked when he intends to end his illustrious career, saying that his family wants him to retire.

“People, particularly my family, say, ‘It’s time you stopped. You have done everything. Why do you want to score one thousand goals? But I do not think so,” he told Canal 11. “I think I’m still producing good things, I’m helping my club and the national team, and why not keep going?”

Ronaldo continued: “I’m confident that when I finish, I’ll be satisfied since I gave it my all. I know I won’t have many more years, so I try to make the most of them.”

The Manchester United and Real Madrid star accepted the Prestige award at the Portugal Football Globes on Tuesday, but he does not consider it a ‘end-of-career accolade’.

“It’s not an end-of-career award,” he added. “I see it as appreciation for years of hard work, devotion, and ambition. I enjoy winning and mentoring younger generations, and they also help me keep my level and continue competing. That’s what excites me: competing with the younger generation. I’m still passionate about this.”

Ronaldo aims for 1,000 career goals after scoring 946 in professional appearances for his club and country.

If he achieves 1,000 career goals, he will be the first player to do so.

Ronaldo, who signed a new deal with Al Nassr this summer, will look to add to his 141 international goals when he returns to action for Portugal.
