Courtois Desperate To Beat Liverpool As Furious Text Message Leaked

Thibaut Courtois’ determination to defeat Liverpool was revealed by journalist Guillem Balague during Real Madrid’s 1-0 loss at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Los Blancos suffered their second defeat of the year after Alexis Mac Allister scored the game’s lone goal on the hour mark from a free kick.

Courtois made eight saves during the match, including a spectacular stop to deny Dominik Szoboszlai from point-blank range in the first half.

The imposing Belgian was in brilliant form in goal against Liverpool, and his performance was almost identical to his heroics in the 2022 Champions League final victory.

Respected journalist Balague also explained why Courtois is more motivated when facing English teams during the match.

Courtois Took Best Goalkeeper Poll As A Motivation

According to Sport Bible, the former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea goalkeeper sent Balague a message asking “why they don’t see in England what he does” after Liverpool’s Alisson Becker emerged victorious in a best goalkeeper vote.

Balague says he asked him, “What will they say now in England??” following his remarkable display in Paris in 2022,  while giving a hug.

Madrid’s prospects of finishing in the top eight and avoiding a play-off round like they did last season may be hampered by their first Champions League loss this season, despite a strong performance from Courtois.

Following that, the 33-year-old offered a candid evaluation of his side’s errors on Merseyside, emphasizing the team’s tendency to commit cheap fouls and lack capacity in the final third.

It’s a very difficult stadium where you can lose, you have to show your face, play better, but these are matches that are decided by details,” he told Movistar.

“It’s a shame, I tried to keep the team together, but in the second half, especially, we committed too many fouls near the area, where they are good and that’s how they scored the goal.

“We were good with the ball, we defended well, but we lacked something in the final third, where we struggled to get forward and lost possession too often.”
