Chelsea star Cole Palmer has officially trademarked his famous ‘cold’ goal celebration for commercial purposes, continuing his personal branding efforts.
Palmer previously admitted the celebration was inspired by Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, but the trademark applies only to commercial use rights.
The UK Intellectual Property Office approved Palmer’s application, meaning other players can still perform the move on the pitch freely, reports Goal.
This follows Palmer’s earlier trademark of his nickname ‘Cold,’ reflecting the player’s careful management of image and intellectual property.
Paul Jordan from Bristows LLP explained Palmer’s approach aims to protect rights and potentially enhance commercial value through registered ownership.
Origins, Acknowledgements, and Return from Injury
Palmer told The Telegraph he first performed the celebration in December during a 3-2 win, crediting friend Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa.

Rogers confirmed Palmer copied the idea but expressed pride in seeing a close friend make it famous across football stages.
Others have also claimed prior use, including Valencia winger Diego Lopez, who insists he performed the celebration for years.
Palmer has been sidelined since September with a groin injury, delaying the return of his signature celebration on the field.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca expects Palmer back after the international break, ready for Premier League and Champions League crucial fixtures.
