The Bayer Leverkusen star is subject to huge transfer interest, with his club rejecting a £109 million bid and seeking £126 million.

Such a fee could make Wirtz one of the most expensive players in British history, highlighting his meteoric rise and value.

However, FC Koln president Werner Wolf has warned they’ll pursue every legal option to secure their entitled share of the transfer.

Speaking to Radio Cologne, Wolf stated, “We know what we’re owed, and we’ll fight for it—every euro of it.”

Koln is entitled to training compensation under FIFA rules, which gives five percent of the fee to clubs involved in a player’s development.

Wirtz was part of Koln’s academy from age seven to 16, meaning they were instrumental in shaping his early footballing journey, reports Express.

If Liverpool meets Leverkusen’s valuation, Koln could earn up to £6.3 million—an impactful figure for the Bundesliga side’s financial future.

The situation has escalated into what media are calling a “million-dollar dispute,” with legal teams preparing arguments on both sides.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Wirtz continues, but legal complications may delay or reshape the nature of this blockbuster transfer deal.
