According to Simon Phillips, Real Madrid is interested in signing Chelsea defensive midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
The Argentina international is clearly too vital for the Blues to seriously consider selling, but Phillips has stated that money talks, so a trade cannot be completely ruled out.
In response to what his source told him, Phillips stated: “I am, of course, referring to our Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez and the love that Real Madrid has for him.”
“I also know on the player side, like pretty much every player in the world, he would see it as a bit of a dream to play for Real Madrid one day, yet there is no suggestion that he is now unhappy at Chelsea or that he would push for a move.”

He added: “But, and this is a worrying but in my opinion, SPTC sources said yesterday that Real Madrid ‘kept calling’ for Fernandez this summer.

“When I asked the source about Chelsea’s response, they just replied with the bag of cash emoji!
“So, take it what you will, but as I have stated, Chelsea would not aggressively want to trade Fernandez this summer, and Champions League football has helped keep him happy at the club.
“I suppose my source is saying that money talks, and he is correct. If a big offer comes in for Fernandez, Chelsea will at least listen. He is not as necessary as Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer.”
Should Chelsea sell Enzo Fernandez?
Fernandez struggled at Stamford Bridge at first, but he has gained in stature with time, and it would be insane for Chelsea to move the 24-year-old now.
However, it is feasible that the west London giants may profit handsomely from letting Fernandez go while remaining relatively strong in central midfield.
Enzo Maresca already has Moises Caicedo in that position, while Andrey Santos has returned after a loan spell at Strasbourg, where he impressed.
If Romeo Lavia can overcome his injury issues, he could be a good choice for Chelsea, who may discover they don’t miss Fernandez as much and can reinvest the money from his sale elsewhere.
