Christian Norgaard’s transfer from Brentford to Arsenal is complete, and the Danish international should be unveiled before the end of the week, according to reports.
On Monday evening, it was claimed that Norgaard’s transfer to the Emirates Stadium will be completed within 48 hours, with Mikel Arteta signing a cheap Jorginho replacement.
The Spaniard had to replace both of his previous number sixes in the summer window, first signing Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad as it became evident that Jorginho was on his way out.
The Gunners were in discussions to an extend Thomas Partey’s contract, but an agreement could not be reached with the camp of the 32-year-old, who has since been charged with fivewith five charges of rape and one count of sexual assault.
As a result, Arsenal rapidly shifted gears and agreed to terms with Brentford for Norgaard, who is expected to largely cover first-choice defensive midfielder Zubimendi during the 2025–26 season.

According to The Athletic, Norgaard’s trade to the Gunners is complete, and Arsenal will pay significantly less for the experienced midfielder than previously reported.

Brentford had initially expected to get a total package of £15 million, consisting of a £10 million fixed fee and a potential £5 million in performance-related bonuses, but the add-ons totaled only £2 million.
Norgaard has already passed his physical with the Premier League runners-up, who are expected to announce the Scandinavian as their third signing of the summer in the coming days.
Christian will join Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga at the Emirates Stadium for the 2025-26 season, and Arsenal are expected to put all of their eggs in Viktor Gyokeres basket once the 31-year-old is through.
Norgaard will depart Brentford, having produced 13 goals and 18 assists in 196 games for the Bees over a six-year period, during which he played a crucial role in their ascent from a Championship team to a top-half Premier League one.
