Chelsea are reportedly not willing to meet AC Milan’s price tag on Mike Maignan amid a strong interest.
The Premier League club have been inspired to make a move for the 29-year-old after learning Maignan was open to a transfer to Stamford Bridge and might be available for a cut-price deal considering he has just one year remaining on his contract.
However, according to the ESPN, Milan would like as much as €30 million ($34m) for the goalkeeper, a sum Chelsea are reluctant to grant given the short duration left on his existing contract.
Although the club are open to adding a new goalkeeper, the sources stated that since they now have five senior goalkeepers in their squad it is not a position they are giving priority to.

The west London team only paid €24.5 million to recruit Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen last summer. They also reached an agreement for Mike Penders, who stayed with Genk for the 2024–25 campaign and is scheduled to join Chelsea this summer.
Penders may leave on loan, as another goalie, Djordje Petrovic, did the previous season, and Kepa Arrizabalaga will return following his brief stint at Bournemouth.
After a string of high-profile errors, Robert Sanchez has come under increased scrutiny, and the prospect of acquiring a goalkeeper of Maignan’s caliber is clearly alluring.
Maignan, who joined Milan from Lille in 2021, has played in the Champions League for the last four years and is France’s first choice.
To determine if an agreement can be achieved, more talks are necessary as Chelsea are unwilling to meet Milan’s valuation.
