Chelsea Told To Make Jadon Sancho U-Turn After Conference League Final Heroics

Chelsea has been advised to sign Jadon Sancho permanently following his Conference League final heroics.

Sancho joined the Blues on loan from Manchester United last summer, with the option to make the transfer permanent for £25 million. However, after a reasonably impressive start, Sancho struggled to assert himself in Enzo Maresca’s favored starting line-up.

According to reports, Chelsea could cancel their loan-to-buy obligation and return Sancho to Manchester United by paying a £5 million penalty.

That was generally expected before to Sancho’s appearance in the Poland final, where he scored a magnificent curling attempt to secure the cup victory over Real Betis.

When asked after the game if a decision had been made on Sancho’s future, manager Enzo Maresca replied: “We will sit with the club and discuss what happens next year.

“If we finish fourth [in the Premier League], it is because of Jadon, and if we win today, it is because of Jadon. It is usual for a season to fluctuate somewhat up and down; it is part of the game.”

Former Chelsea forward Joe Cole, who was a pundit for TNT Sports during the final, believes Sancho deserves to remain with the Blues. He said, “Yes, I do.”

“This is a boy who went to Dortmund and became a star. He was a superstar as a child. He went to Manchester United and was not a member. He’s finished it. He’s come here and got his career back on track. I truly believe there is more to come from him.”

Fellow commentator Michail Antonio agreed, saying, “I believe Chelsea should sign Jadon Sancho. He has been a valuable member of the squad, and at times this season, he has served as the team’s catalyst.
