Chelsea FC have recorded a staggering £342million pre-tax loss for the 2024/25 season, according to UEFA’s latest financial report findings.
The figure represents the largest loss in English football history and tops UEFA’s list for the season.

Chelsea’s £342million deficit is more than double the next highest loss recorded by French side Lyon.
Only Barcelona’s £483.9million loss in 2020/21 exceeds Chelsea’s deficit in modern European football history records.
The Blues remain owned by BlueCo, who have overseen aggressive transfer spending since taking control recently.
Squad Value Raises Further Questions
UEFA’s report also revealed Chelsea assembled the most expensive squad ever recorded by transfer cost valuation.
The club’s playing squad reached a combined transfer value exceeding £1.5billion by the end of 2025.
That figure surpassed rivals Manchester City, whose squad cost stood at approximately £1.38billion during the same period.
UEFA stated Chelsea’s squad cost €1.746billion, setting another record after surpassing last year’s total investment mark, reports Football London.
The report highlighted how Premier League clubs dominate the most expensive squad rankings across European football.
However, UEFA clarified financial monitoring assesses clubs over a rolling three-year period to smooth annual fluctuations.
Chelsea’s massive losses could raise fresh scrutiny under Financial Fair Play regulations as European authorities continue monitoring compliance closely.
