Crystal Palace forward, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Aston Villa have reportedly agreed personal terms, with Chelsea planning a last-minute hijack.
An exodus is taking place at Crystal Palace, and according to Football 365, Mateta appears certain to follow Marc Guehi in departing after Oliver Glasner declared he would quit the Premier League no later than the summer.
With ten goals in 33 games across all competitions this season, Mateta—who has been linked to Aston Villa, Juventus, and Chelsea—has been one of the Premier League’s best strikers in recent years.
Mateta Could Depart If Suitable Offer Arrives
Mateta’s current contract is set to expire in 2027, and Glasner recently disclosed that he may depart if the club receive a good offer, thus Palace is running out of time to profit from him.

Glasner said: “There will be a price that Crystal Palace [accept], with 18 months left on his contract. We’d do the deal, if JP wants. If nobody pays that price, then he will stay.”
The Times, meanwhile, stated that he ‘wants out’ over broken ‘promises’, with the striker claiming that the club does not ‘match his ambition’.
After scoring 38 league goals over the previous three seasons, the report stated that the French striker feels that Palace have not fulfilled their commitments to him regarding player acquisition and the conditions of a possible new contract.
At first, Juventus appeared to be Mateta’s most likely destination, but after the Serie A powerhouses’ loan-to-buy offer was rejected, Premier League teams entered the competition to sign him.
