Jorrel Hato was left out of Ajax’s pre-season friendly against Como over the weekend as he pursues a move to Chelsea. His representative, Humphry Nijman, has already acknowledged negotiations with the Premier League club.
De Telegraaf stated two days ago that his absence against Como was a clear indicator that the 19-year-old will be joining Chelsea. They further stated that the Dutch club, who had sought €60 million, is willing to sell him for €50 million.
A new report from De Telegraaf confirms this and provides an update on Chelsea’s attempts to sign the left-back.
After dropping the asking price from €60 million to €50 million, the daily reports that the Eredivisie team is willing to take roughly €43-45 million, with or without bonuses.

According to De Telegraaf, the Amsterdam club cannot risk cancelling the deal with Chelsea due to their ‘bleak financial state’.
They believe that other clubs, besides the Club World Cup winners, are unlikely to pay more than €40 million for Hato. In addition, the defender is in talks with Chelsea and is interested in joining them.
As a result, Ajax are alleged to have ‘unintentionally found themselves in a tough situation’ when negotiating Hato’s transfer to Chelsea. According to the source, the Dutch club could be obliged to accept the Premier League side’s bid of more than €40 million.
