Chelsea Looking To Sign Liverpool Target Following Delap Move

Chelsea are reportedly looking to sign Hugo Ekitike after sealing a deal for Ipswich Town forward, Liam Delap.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has identified the Eintracht Frankfurt forward as a possible addition this summer.

Darwin Nunez is anticipated to depart Anfield this summer, and Ekitike has been identified as a potential replacement. The 22-year-old  might now have to choose where he wants to go next.

Sky Germany as reported by Liverpool.com claims that Chelsea are still closely monitoring the attacker even if a deal for Delap is almost finalized.

His Portman Road contract contains a £30 million release clause that the Stamford Bridge team are prepared to activate.

Manchester United, Newcastle, and Everton have all reportedly retreated from their previous intense interest in Delap.

Despite the team’s instant relegation to the Championship, the former Manchester City player scored 12 goals in his debut season at Ipswich.

Ekitike, meanwhile, has been outstanding for Frankfurt this season, scoring 22 goals in all competitions.

Axel Hellmann, CEO and now board member of Frankfurt, confirmed the Premier League’s eye on Ekitike, expressing: “I would love to have him at Frankfurt for another ten years, if possible.

“But we are realistic. He is one of the best high-potential players in Europe at the moment and he is only 22. That means he has a great future.

“He is a clever guy. He loves to listen and learn. I would love him to stay another couple of years. But the market is the market and half of the Premier League clubs are interested in signing him.”
