Chelsea Looking To Seal €60M Deal For Defender Following Colwill Injury

Chelsea Looking To Seal €60M Deal For Defender Following Colwill Injury

Chelsea are reportedly still active in the transfer market for a central defender following a long-term injury to Levi Colwill.

In order to improve their attacking options, the Blues spent a lot of money in the transfer market once more before starting their campaign this weekend. They signed players like Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, and Estevao.

However, Chelsea’s defense appears to be a little weaker, which raises the possibility of yet another significant defensive acquisition.

The news that Colwill will miss a significant portion of the upcoming season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained during preseason stunned Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

However, the “next few hours will be key in determining” if the world champions’ summer spending could exceed £300 million in order to bring in their rumoured replacement.

Chelsea Want To Sign Bayer Leverkusen Defender Piero Hincapie

According to a report from Bolavip as cited by FourFourTwo, Chelsea are looking to make a “final push” and bring in Piero Hincapie as a left-sided defensive cover.

The Blues are reportedly considering a €60 million deal for the Bayer Leverkusen defender, but Erik ten Hag’s side are said to be holding out for €70 million after losing players like Florian Wirtz, Jonathan Tah, Jeremie Frimpong, and Granit Xhaka this summer.

Dutch defender Jorrel Hato joined from Ajax earlier this summer as a left-back and center-back option.

The FIFA Club World Cup champions may decide to integrate the teenager rather than add another player.
