According to the PA news agency, Chelsea is in talks to re-sign Marc Guiu from his loan at Sunderland in order to cover for injured striker Liam Delap.
Delap limped out of Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Fulham at Stamford Bridge with a hamstring injury and might be out for up to two months.
The Blues responded by ordering Nicolas Jackson back from Germany, where he had just arrived to finish a year-long loan agreed earlier on Saturday, and despite the 24-year-old’s initial refusal to return, it is understood Bayern have now pulled out of the contract.
However, Jackson and his colleagues remained confident on Monday that the clubs could still reach an agreement.

Chelsea reportedly contacted Sporting Lisbon on Sunday about a prospective deal for 20-year-old attacker Conrad Harder, but PA understands negotiations are also underway to end 19-year-old Guiu’s year-long loan at the Stadium of Light.
Joao Pedro, the club’s summer signing, is currently the only fit striker on whom head coach Enzo Maresca can rely following the international break.
Guiu joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2024 and scored six goals in 16 appearances last season, all of which came during the Conference League’s league phase.
He has yet to score in the Premier League, and Chelsea had planned for him to continue his development on Wearside, but his time with Regis Le Bris’ side may be coming to an end after only one league appearance.
