Chelsea Charged After Bottle Thrown Following Aston Villa Loss At Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have been charged by the Football Association following an incident after their Premier League defeat to Aston Villa.

The charge relates to a plastic bottle thrown towards Villa’s bench after the final whistle at Stamford Bridge.

The incident occurred after Villa secured a dramatic 2-1 comeback win with two late goals from Ollie Watkins.

Celebrations from the away bench sparked tension, with objects appearing to be thrown during heated post-match scenes.

At the time, uncertainty surrounded whether the bottle came from the crowd or Chelsea’s technical area.

FA allege improper conduct around technical area

The FA allege Chelsea failed to control players or staff positioned near the technical area after the match ended.

An official statement claimed behaviour may have been improper, provocative or abusive during the aftermath of defeat.

Television footage showed liquid, believed to be water, showering members of Villa’s backroom staff during celebrations.

One Villa staff member was later seen gesturing towards Chelsea’s bench as tensions briefly escalated, reports BBC Sports.

The victory marked Villa’s joint-record 11th consecutive win in all competitions, underlining their strong league form.

Chelsea confirmed they launched an internal investigation but have not yet issued a public response.

BBC Sport has contacted the club for comment as Chelsea prepare to submit their response to the FA.
