Chelsea Add 33 Players To Champions League Squad Including Silva’s Son

Chelsea have reportedly added remarkable 33 young players to their squad ahead of their Champions League matchup with Ajax on Wednesday.

UEFA have approved the full squad, and Chelsea’s roster on the Champions League website has been updated to reflect the addition of new players.

Of the 33, 29 are teenagers with eight are 16 years old.

According to UEFA regulations, clubs are allowed to add as many players as they want to their B list the night before a game. The only criterion is that the players must have been born on or after January 1, 2004.

16-year-old defender Isago Silva is the most notable of the team’s baby-faced additions talkSPORT reports.

Isago is the son of Blues legend Thiago Silva, who played for his club for four seasons, totaling 155 matches.

Between May 2021 and February 2022, the Brazilian legend helped Chelsea win the Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Champions League.

Isago is not the only son of a former Chelsea player among the 33 new additions.

Landon Emenalo, a 17-year-old is the son of former Blues technical director Michael Emenalo.

It remains to be seen if any of the 33 young players will contribute to Chelsea’s Champions League run.

From their first two games in the competition, the Blues have a record of one victory and one loss.

With a 1-0 victory over Benfica at Stamford Bridge, Enzo Maresca’s team bounced back from a 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich on the road.
