Casemiro has backed Neymar as Brazil’s most important player as the Selecao get ready for the 2026 World Cup.
Neymar’s fitness problems have prevented him from playing for Carlo Ancelotti, raising concerns that he won’t compete in the tournament the following year.
Citing Argentina’s strategy around Lionel Messi during their 2022 tournament run, the Manchester United midfielder contended that Brazil should change tactically to allow the Santos forward more freedom.
Neymar has once again been left out of Brazil’s roster given Ancelotti’s insistence that Neymar still needs to prove that he is physically prepared following a protracted and difficult recuperation process.

In advance of the 2026 World Cup, the Santos star has been pressing for a return to the national squad, but his situation is still unclear.
Neymar Could Make World Cup Squad Despite Recent Omission
The door is not closed, according to Ancelotti, who has emphasized time and time again that Neymar is still a top player when completely fit. However, he insisted that he first show consistent availability.
Neymar is currently in a race against time to persuade both club and nation that his body can endure the rigors of elite football, despite being Brazil’s all-time leading goal scorer.
Casemiro, however, is still certain that Neymar can make a difference once more because he ranked him higher than a number of the biggest stars he has ever shared a locker room with.
He told Globo: “I had the pleasure of playing with great players. Cristiano [Ronaldo] in his best phase, when everything he touched was a goal.
“I played with Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Marcelo, [Gareth] Bale, [Karim] Benzema. We’re talking about more than 10 Ballon d’Or winners. And it’s inevitable that you put Neymar on that list. Everyone does what they want on and off the field.
“My lifestyle is different, more reserved. But we can’t dismiss him if he’s doing well. If he’s physically and mentally fit, he’s by far the best. I’m a big fan of him as a player.”
