Carragher Voices Big Concern Over Liverpool’s Isak Transfer

Jamie Carragher acknowledged that he has one worry about Alexander Isak following his arrival from Newcastle on the deadline day.

To acquire Isak and put an end to a transfer saga that took over the window, the Reds paid a British record £125 million.

The 25-year-old’s  ability in front of goal is unquestionable given his 54 goals in 86 Premier League games, but Carragher has acknowledged that he is concerned about the player’s injury history.

The Sweden international played 42 games for Newcastle last season, but he missed two stints because of a groin issue, and he had to miss almost four months in 2022–2023 because of a thigh injury.

What Is Carragher’s Concern Over Isak?

According to Liverpool FC, when asked whether that is a concern, Carragher replied: “Yeah, I think so. I think it was his first season more than any at Newcastle, where he missed quite a few games that season.

“It’s difficult for anybody to replicate what Liverpool had a few years ago. They used to have [Mohamed] Salah, [Roberto] Firmino, and [Sadio] Mane, and they played every game. They never got injured.

“But hopefully, when you look at the injury situation at Liverpool last season, that improved a lot under Arne Slot from what we’d seen before under Jurgen Klopp.

“So hopefully as we’re going about things on the training pitch, we’ll help Isak in that situation because when you pay that type of money, you want that played on the pitch nine times up to 10.”
