Fernandes’ creative display helped goals from Casemiro and Matheus Cunha secure the important win for United.
His two assists took his season tally to 16, surpassing Beckham’s long-standing record of 15 assists during the famous 1999-2000 campaign.
The Portuguese midfielder also reached another remarkable milestone by registering 100 assists in all competitions for Manchester United since joining the club.

Speaking after the match, Fernandes admitted it was a special moment to break a record held by one of the club’s greatest players.
The United captain explained that Beckham was a major influence during his childhood because of his exceptional crossing ability and passing accuracy.
Fernandes recalled how many young football fans tried to imitate Beckham while playing in their gardens, reports GOAL.
He said he was proud to match and eventually surpass the achievement of a player widely admired across the football world.
Despite the personal milestone, Fernandes insisted his main focus remains helping Manchester United win matches and finish the season strongly.
