Semenyo’s clause, reportedly worth £65 million, becomes active during the opening days of January, increasing expectations of a swift exit.

While Bournemouth would bank a significant fee, replacing Semenyo’s goals, pace and physicality remains a major challenge for recruitment staff.

The winger has scored eight goals and registered three assists in just sixteen Premier League matches this campaign.

Fatawu emerges as leading candidate

According to reports, Bournemouth are exploring a move for Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu as a potential Semenyo replacement.

Leicester previously demanded over £30 million for Fatawu after interest from Everton and Sunderland during the summer transfer window.

The Cherries are expected to decide within days whether to pursue a formal approach, while assessing several alternative attacking options.

Nottingham Forest midfielder James McAtee is also admired, although he operates more centrally than Semenyo in attacking situations.

Fatawu joined Leicester permanently in 2024 after an initial loan, playing a key role in their promotion-winning Championship season, reports Sports Mole.

The 21-year-old registered six goals and thirteen assists last season, showcasing creativity, pace and direct attacking threat consistently.

Although differing stylistically from Semenyo, Bournemouth believe Fatawu’s development trajectory could translate successfully to Premier League football.
