Benjamin Sesko Feels Manchester United Are Up For A Top-Four Challenge After Last-Gasp Leveller

Benjamin Sesko believes Manchester United’s comeback at West Ham demonstrates their willingness to compete for a Champions League spot.

Sesko came on as a 69th-minute substitute at the London Stadium, with his team trailing to Tomas Soucek’s goal just after halftime.

With the home team clinging on deep into stoppage time, United appeared to be heading for their first defeat under interim manager Michael Carrick after four straight victories.

However, with 96 minutes remaining, Bryan Mbeumo swung in a cross, and Sesko put out a toe to neatly flip an incredible volley high into the net, securing a 1-1 draw.

“It was just one of those games that was not going to be that easy because especially they were stepping back, they were really compact, they were trying to go for the counter-attacks,” the striker from Slovenia said on MUTV.

“It’s just something we need to learn from. I believe everyone wanted it; everyone was trying to win the game, score, and fight for one another.

“Unfortunately, it did not happen, but at least we achieved a draw, which is significant in the end.

“I felt great because I knew I could once again aid the squad by securing at least one point.

“It’s a nice feeling for me to know that I can aid the squad in a variety of situations. Obviously, without my teammates, I couldn’t do it. So I’m looking forward to more experiences like this.”

A point kept United fourth and on track to return to the Champions League, an achievement that was implausible a month ago under previous manager Ruben Amorim.
