Club captain Frenkie de Jong recently signed a new deal until 2029 following lengthy discussions that included a change of agents. The Dutchman’s dedication to the club was exceptional.
According to SPORT, Barcelona are now planning to reopen talks over a renewal with another player who has lately changed his representatives. Marc Casado, the player in question, is currently handled by Jorge Mendes.

The Catalan club and the super-agent have a good relationship, and the fact that the 22-year-old has changed counsel could imply that he intends to prolong his current deal, which runs until 2028.
Casado came into the first team at the start of the season, when Hansi Flick was low on pivot alternatives. Frenkie de Jong was still healing from an ankle injury, but Marc Bernal had sustained an ACL.
The 22-year-old made himself invaluable in the first half of the 2024/25 season, but after Frenkie regained his peak performance, he began to bench Casado. This, combined with a lengthy injury, resulted in the Spaniard losing prominence.
With Pedri’s latest setback, Casado is receiving more opportunity in Flick’s lineup. A new contract could be in the works, but we’ll have to wait and see how negotiations between the former Barça Atlètic captain and Deco progress.
