Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement in principle over five years contract with Espanyol goalkeeper, Joan Garcia ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to Barca Universal, the deal should be finalized in the next few days, with the payment of his €25 million release clause.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper has agreed to the La Liga winners’ offer because he believes it to be the finest choice in terms of both money and sporting.
Under Deco’s direction, the sporting department put in a lot of effort to prevent a transfer to the Premier League.

Garcia was a significant market opportunity for Barcelona. He was inexpensive thanks to his €25 million release clause, and the team moved quickly to restructure the goalkeeping department to prevent him from leaving for England.
At first, there was talk of loaning him to a third club, but Garcia and his representatives weren’t in favor of it. He signed to contend for the top slot right away.
The emotional strain of going from Espanyol to Barcelona made the player’s decision difficult. Garcia and his group were not really sure about the prospects of leaving for a major rival.
The fact that Barca were adamant about getting him and that some of the more alluring Premier League options didn’t work out as planned were what ultimately made the difference.
Paying Garcia’s release clause and completing the deal will be Barcelona’s next move.
The Espanyol star is now on vacation, and Deco is also away from Barcelona, so while this could happen by the end of this week, it is more likely to be finalized next week.
