FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta was overjoyed last night at the 2025 Ballon d’Or event.
After the club’s players won three of the four main trophies, Aitana Bonmati won the Women’s Ballon d’Or, while Lamine Yamal and Vicky Lopez won the Men’s and Women’s Kopa Trophy, respectively.
It was Lamine’s second Kopa Trophy, after winning it previous year, and he also finished second in the Ballon d’Or rankings, trailing winner Ousmane Dembele.
Laporta is happy.
Speaking to the media in the mixed zone following the gala, Laporta offered his congratulations to all of Barcelona’s winners.
“The second Kopa of Lamine is very remarkable, I am very happy for Aitana, when she goes on stage, she gives a recognition that moves you,” he went on:

“With Aitana I am delighted, she has given an exceptional speech, she has touched everything, family, club, equality, we know that these are reasons that motivate Aitana to keep improving,” he told reporters.
Despite falling short of the Ballon d’Or, Laporta emphasized the importance of Lamine’s status as a finalist at the age of 18.
“No one has two Kopa trophies, and I am confident that Lamine will now compete for the Ballon d’Or.” There were many nerves because there were a lot of people in the theatre yelling ‘Ousmane, Ousmane’ and a few of us from Barça shouting ‘Lamine, Lamine’.”
“I am sure that this will motivate Lamine much more,” he said later.
Continuing, Laporta stated, “We had hope; we had Raphinha, Lamine, and Pedri nominated; in the end, the finalists were Lamine and Dembele.” I believe that winning the Champions League was significant.”
“But it’s another acknowledgment; nobody has two Kopa trophies. He was confident that Lamine would win the Ballon d’Or. “Time will tell, but he is a person of great quality,”
