Barcelona Plans Desperate Transfer Strategy To Solve Major Marcus Rashford Issue

According to reports, Barcelona is racing against the clock to sell players in order to make room in their team for Marcus Rashford.

The Catalan club has a familiar challenge in registering the former Aston Villa loanee, who joined from Manchester United in July.

Last summer, Hansi Flick’s side faced a similar issue with Dani Olmo. The issue is La Liga’s salary cap, which requires teams to reduce their cost – ideally by dumping veteran players – if they wish to add new players to their squad.

They were eventually able to register Olmo in time for the start of the 2024-25 season, but they had to go through the process again in January. This time, Rashford is not the only one in the same scenario.

Barcelona signed Rashford on loan with the option to buy, and he, along with new goalkeeper Joan Garcia, will need to be accommodated.

The club will also need to re-register Wojciech Szczesny, whose contract expired and he negotiated new terms.

The club is also hoping to add Gerard Martin and Marc Bernal as first-team players, as well as recent acquisition Roony Bardghji. Bardghji, a Swedish winger, arrived from FC Copenhagen earlier this summer but will apparently be added to the first-team squad after the other five.

Barcelona will begin their campaign against Mallorca on August 16. They have previously indicated confidence in doing what is necessary to ensure Rashford can play a role, but they are not there yet.
